Principal Chief comments on loss of citizen

On Wednesday, June 30 Fannie Barnett, Muscogee (Creek) Citizen passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma.,  Ms. Barnett worked in the Tribe's Veterans Affairs Office and was also a former Senior Miss Muscogee (Creek) Nation Princess.  "One of the finest Creek women I ever knew,"  said Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief A.D. Ellis when recalling about Barnett.  "My prayers and condolences go out to her family, especially her husband, Smiley.  "The last time I seen her was last weekend at the (Creek) Festival and she looked so happy as she always did, this is a great loss to the Nation."  Barnett was 71.

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation is a tribal government located in east central Oklahoma. The Creek Nation boundary includes eleven (11) Counties: Creek, Hughes (Tukvpvtce), Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Rogers, Seminole, Tulsa and Wagoner.
