District Judge's Term Protested

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief A.D. Ellis commented on the Tribal Supreme Court decision that was handed down on June 30 regarding the continued service of Muscogee (Creek) Nation District Court Judge Patrick Moore for an additional 30 days or until another District Judge has been appointed.  "We (tribe) definitely couldn't go without a judge," said Ellis, "not to be able to function as a tribe in the capacity that we need to."

Ellis learned that the Tribe's National Council has currently requested an 'en bac reconsideration' of the administrative order to the Tribe's Supreme Court regarding this decision.  Ellis feels that this is a direct opposition of judicial power.  "The Supreme Court is the final word, and should be respected," said Ellis.

Judge Moore's last day as District Judge was suppose to have been June 30, before Jonodev O. Chaduri, Chief Justice and Administrative Head of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Supreme Court, announced the decision the same day.
